Digital Beginnings
My name is Phillip Crowe and I have been fascinated with the power of the internet for as long as I can remember.
Understanding how people interact online was just a part of life for me as I grew up in the growing digital landscape. To provide context, I attended a college in the first-wave of campuses invited to Facebook back in 2005. Even so, I never expected the influence online communities would have on my life and others.
What struck me was the impact we were able to make through the internet. Since then, I have made it my mission to pursue making a difference as a digital marketer.
One spring day in 2010, I was teaching public speaking at Florida State University when a colleague didn’t show up to class. After days with no word, I began to organize the digital missing person campaign to find my friend.
In eight days, my fellow volunteers and I launched a website, created word of mouth social media campaigns on Facebook and Twitter reaching 12,000+ supporters, and began spreading the message to over 50 local and national publications. We were able to raise more than $5,000 through donations, and helped bring closure to the search.
In the years since, what struck me was the impact we were able to make through the internet. Since then, I have made it my mission to pursue making a difference as a digital marketer.
A Career Online
Professionally, I’ve experienced most aspects of digital marketing from doing, to managing, to consulting. I am grateful for the trust these organizations put in me to help them build something better.
It began at Bright Red, an Omnicom agency, running social media on behalf of Party City (along with 11 other clients) where we grew their engaged fan base by 5x.
Next, my journey let me explore the voice of the customer at a world-renowned high-touch contact center, where I started a digital-first customer service department on behalf of HMS Host (which operates all Starbucks in North American airports). We handled the 10% of customer service volume that was happening online at the time and the program continues grow to this day.
Professionally, I’ve experienced most aspects of digital marketing from doing, to managing, to consulting. I am grateful for the trust these organizations put in me to help them build something better.
More recently, once again agency-side, my responsibilities expanded to include (among 18 other clients) running digital campaign and media strategy for new patient acquisition at FastMed Urgent Care’s 109 clinics where we were able to obtain and measure a 4x ROI for marketing spend.
Betterstrike Is Minted
These experiences have a common thread: looking at the challenges of the day and crafting solutions that bring about the biggest impact.
That’s why, in the spring of 2019, I founded Betterstrike to craft impactful digital marketing on behalf of tech startups, multi-location businesses, healthcare, and retail brands.
The name, Betterstrike, comes from a continual improvement mindset in crafting campaigns for impact. Even if your digital marketing is near-perfect, there is always something to learn from and improve.
